Ahimsa – the principle of kindness

We at HathaYoga.com practice and strongly advocate the Yogic principle of Ahimsa, or non-violence. The term Ahimsa means to cause no harm of any type, not only through one’s actions, but also through one’s words and thoughts.

This practice of kindness and non-violence extends to all living things including the self, animals, and the environment.

Ahimsa is rewarding

Being kind is incredibly rewarding. Not only can it make someone else’s day, it will actually make you feel good as well. The same goes for making kind choices in the products you use.

Things to be mindful of as a consumer include being sure the products you choose are:

  • sourced sustainably
  • created with fair labor practices
  • free of animal products
  • not tested on animals
  • free of chemicals and toxins
  • environmentally friendly and recyclable

We believe in practicing Ahimsa in all we do, living cruelty free in all we eat, what we wear, in the products we use, and with the interactions we have. Ahimsa is simple yet powerful. Not only is it good for us, it’s great for the world.

  1. Thank you for remembering Ahimsa kindness. Our present world needs the consciousness of kindness and being aware of our words and actions. I love the picture of the baby squirrel. My best friend rescues them all the time. And morns their passing when hit by cars. OM/Shanti
