Yoga isn’t just for grown-ups you know! Kids can reap all the benefits as well. The organization Yoga Foster is helping this happen in public schools.
Yoga Foster is a non-profit organization with a mission to empower public school teachers with yoga resources to make happier and healthier classrooms.
Their goal is to provide kids quality, accessible yoga directly in the classroom, during school hours. It is designed for public school teachers working with pre-K to 5th grade students anywhere in the United States.
What does Yoga Foster do?
The main three components that Yoga Foster offers are:
1. A comprehensive online kids yoga training
2. A curriculum of lessons and discussion questions for weekly classes
3. Materials such as yoga mats, music, and other resources
How we all can help
100% of Yoga Foster’s mats are donated. In order to meet the need for yoga mats, Yoga Foster repurposes unneeded mats from studios, retailers, and yogis across the U.S.
You can find out more about their mat drive at www.yogafoster.org/mat-drive. Maybe you have an extra mat that’s been sitting neglected in a corner somewhere. This is a great way to find it a good home!
Another way you can help is to spread the word about Yoga Foster. Perhaps you’re a teacher, know of one, or have children of your own that could benefit from incorporating yoga into the public school classroom.
A win win
Not only can Yoga Foster make a profound difference in the lives of children who are reached by it, but it is also a great way to repurpose lonely mats that might otherwise end up in a landfill. Positive impact all around!
