This is literally my second time ever doing yoga, so I wanted a short workout. I found a 10 minute yoga class on YouTube that featured a “Sun Salutation”. I thought it would be fun to try. It was also my first chance to use my new yoga mat! I love the mat and will review it in a future post.
This video was made by the same studio whose video I watched the first time I did yoga. It’s the same instructor, but with a different model. Like the other video, the atmosphere is informal and relaxed. I enjoy that aspect of it, especially since I’m at such an early stage of learning about yoga.
Beginning to begin
Because the other video was so doable, I was a bit surprised by this one. The title says 10 minute yoga class for “beginners”, so I must not even be a beginner yet. I had never done any of the poses. The routine goes through them very quickly, and I had a hard time keeping up. After the fact I read the detailed description where it says “Suited for daily practice for anybody who is either in good physical shape or who has some previous knowledge of yoga”. I think it should say “Suited for daily practice for anybody who is in good physical shape AND who has some previous knowledge of yoga”.
Though I couldn’t really keep up, it was fun trying poses for the first time. I’m definitely psyched to do this workout again as I start to learn them. The poses include fish, forward bend, cobra, shoulder stand, and even the infamous downward dog. The shoulder stand was definitely the most challenging of the poses, and I was a little surprised that I was actually able to do it. Woohoo!
10 minute yoga class for cats
Maria always talks about how our cats love to do yoga with her, and I’ve witnessed it with my own eyes. It’s an entirely different thing to experience it first hand! They get really excited and involved. It’s probably didn’t help me with my poses much, but it more than made up for that in fun! It’s a little blurry, but I can’t resist including this pic Maria took of Pink Bean helping me with my routine. I’m sure she’ll be joining me for my next workout!
